Mountain Invitation

Mountain meadows turning golden
Fall nips with crystalline air
Tiny pine trees scattered random
March t’wards next Christmas fair

Russet cattails border ditch banks
Glow in sunlight’s slanting rays
Fallen barns heaped in the grasses
Testify of bygone days

Roadways ever bearing traffic
Streaming constant changing times
Still the mountains stand steadfastly
Monuments of God’s design

Rest, indeed, the air breathes to us
Now that fires have burnt and gone
Pause, partake of mountain vistas
Relax amidst the wild bird song

Contemplate here without bother
But for pleasant forest sounds
Let go strife and all that ails you
Throw it up to higher ground

Come, the mountains bid yet to us
Stay awhile here in repose
Let the breeze through pines and aspens
Lift worn hearts, refresh your souls

Oh, the mountains, grand creation
How can one still not believe
Majesty in beauty splendor
Witness glories unperceived
