“Question Prayers”

After a serious discussion recently with a loved one, a series of “question prayers” arose as I wondered more about the heart of things…questions I’ve asked before, and lift up now again.

Whatever has you fearful, bound, or confounded, may God empower you to overcome, and bless you with His presence through your journey.

~~~
LORD,
Has fleeting time brought me to a place I feel ill-prepared to face? Help me, please, in my infirmity and my weakness.
Have I despaired or felt I am a failure because my expectations were different than reality? Show me Your truth, who You say I am, and Your purposes for me.
While yearning for answers to repeated prayers, will I trust Your promises, God? Give me patience as I wait on Your perfect timing.
May I let go and press into Your unchangeable truth, Father, and claim You in this moment as my plumb-line?…no other reference point or anchor is secure…Give me a heart of belief, LORD.
May I have a lightened heart in this world full of heaviness and decay?…Give me eyes to see true joy and dwell in it.
May I trust, though humans have given reasons to be wary and alert, that You, God, are indeed in control?…Be my strong tower and protector, LORD.
Can I let go day by day, let the earthly fetters fall and learn to soar in true freedom? Catch me, LORD! Raise me up. You are the lifter of my head, the very air I breathe.
It’s easy to say or to ask these things…will I actually walk today in faith with You, God…or fall back into worldly despair? Renew my heart and mind, LORD. Let me praise and honor You.
Let me press into Your truth, God, and let go of all that binds my heart to futile things…You have never failed or lied to me, LORD. Show me the better way.
Help me let go of my fears and accept the friendship You offer me…relationship with You…Thank You, LORD, for offering Your life for mine.
As my earthly life is changing or fading, let me rest in Your assurance and provision, and Your promise to walk with me every step of the way…in this life, through death’s door, and into eternity…I trust You, LORD.
Wash through me, Spirit of Truth. Cleanse me from the rubbled way. Make my crooked paths straight, my vision clear, my heart secure in Your hands. Safely hold me in Your embrace. Thank You for always being greater than anything I face, and for hearing my prayer. You alone, Holy God, are Almighty and Good.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Proverbs 3:5-8 NIV “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”
Psalm 145:18-20a NJKV “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. The Lord preserves all who love Him…”
  1. Sherry after reading and listening to your words, I feel compelled to reach out. My heart is worried for you yet I don’t know what I am worried about. Depression, illness? My niece is bipolar and her depression is very bad. Your last writing I sent to her in hopes it would lift her up.
    For you my dear friend, my prayers are with you, and wishing we were closer to help in some way, if possible.
    Sending love, hugs and, healing prayer..
    1. Hi, Kathy. Thank you for your thoughtful comments. Actually, I am well. My sensitivity to my own emotions, plus bearing other’s burdens, prompts me to share. I hope if readers find themselves facing these kinds of questions, they’ll know our LORD is there, ready to walk with them every step of the way.
      Thank you for your prayers. Love, blessings, and wholeness to you and your family! 💞💐🙏
  2. Excellent questions! Everyone has them from time to time but sometimes can’t express them. Or think they shouldn’t have such questions rather than bringing them to Him. Good work. Thanks Sherry.
