No Longer A Dead Dog

The astounding gift of grace God offers us, and a testament of His love and character, is beautifully exemplified in the Old Testament story of Mephibosheth.

After his father and grandfather were killed in war, Mephibosheth lived in Lo-debar. Crippled in both feet from age five, he had no home of his own and no inheritance.

Was he looked down upon? Did he feel broken or not good enough? Was he bullied, an outcast? Did his disability define him?

King David vowed to restore Mephibosheth’s inheritance, show him kindness, and invite him to eat daily at the king’s table. He further honored him by ordering servants to tend his land.

Like Mephibosheth, each of us have things that make us feel like a dead dog. Things that leave us wanting in a comparative world. It’s amazing that God offers to adopt us as cherished members of His family, provide for us, and invite us to sit at His table, no matter our limitations. He promises to transform and heal us.

To embrace such gifts we, too, must accept the king’s terms, leave our Lo-debar, and follow. What joy that no matter our lack of qualifications, we are offered such favor from the King of All Kings.

This holiday season will you accept King Jesus’ invitation to come to His table?

More about God’s amazing favor, and how to accept His invitation, may be found in my 21-day devotional “Walking Through Shadows: Finding Hope When Life Seems Dark.” Get your copy here:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FT515VPQ/

And…if you know someone who is walking through shadows, please consider surprising them with a copy, or sharing this email with them. Thank you.

Blessings and Merry Christmas,
