Offered to our minds and hearts
Words we listen to each day
What fellowship do we keep
Truth or lies as our mainstay
What do we welcome in as ours
What names do others call us by
Affirming or degrading ones
Terms that uplift or decry
Common words in culture now
Rarely spoken in my youth
Harshly whittle people down
Then and now are still uncouth
Could it be our fellowship
Goes beyond the gatherings
Of family, friends, of favorite groups
To deeper places found within
Oh, my dear beloved ones
Wisely choose the thoughts you wear
The words, ideas ushered in
To fill your mind, your heart, your cares
For fellowship continues on
Within our souls when others leave
Thoughts marinate, infuse our minds
Speak whispers even as we sleep
Change to views one thinks are true
Unless to Truth one can compare
Guard your mind, your heart, your soul
From lies’ intentions to ensnare
Proverbs 23:7a (NKJV)
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
