Extending Grace

{How long the wait, is the cry}
{Before things run without a hitch}
{Problems popping ceaselessly}
{Seem to go indefinitely}

{Pulling thoughts around me firm}
{I know the answer, indubitably}
{If only others would agree}
{Work things out the way I see}

WAIT! Could it be a larger view
Helps reveal a deeper truth
Of a picture greater than
One’s own mind can understand

Perhaps that person’s life’s a mess
They’re floundering in painful place
Could this lesson be for both
Learning more that thing called grace

Unmerited favor, grace defined
“Unmerited”…do I comprehend
The countless times that for me
Grace was offered…graciously

Yes, I’m called to do the same
Love those too whose hurting souls
Have failed me in their woundedness
As they struggle to be whole

Grace extends forgiving hands
Forged through lifetime’s endless trials
Patience turns longsuffering
Gifts of Love that will prevail

LORD, help us to remember that
Our sense of time is very short
When healing’s growth seems so slow
Keep our eyes on Love’s full goal

Romans 5:8 NKJV
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Isaiah 30:18
“Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.”
