The Helmsman

What to do when asked to go
Into waters yet unknown
Matters not if calm or storm
Unfamiliar though they are 
The Helmsman knows the way 

How to navigate from deep 
Through shallow shoals that want to catch 
Would He who guides forsake us then 
Leave our ship to list and wreck 
Forgotten on the way 

Fear not all you who ride along 
Trustworthy is this Captain strong 
He’s been this way o’re and o’re 
Knows intimately that distant shore 
His promises are sure  

He’ll never leave though strife protests 
He’s certain of the course that’s next 
Listen to His clear commands
Obey, He helps us understand 
He’s with us all the way

Thank You, LORD, that You are trustworthy and true. You are the way, the truth and the life. Draw us ever closer, through calm or storm, to see the truth of You! We praise You that the fiercest forces of nature obey Your command! Thank You for being our Helmsman through this sea of life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
