God made elephants and gazelles 
Giraffes’ long necks and spindly legs 
Platypuses and furry things
Worms and snails and hummingbirds 
Each fearfully and wonderfully made 

What do you see when you look at me 
My misshapes, ginormous legs 
Am I only an external shell 
Please take time to look inside
And see the truths in me 

Why a lifetime of diets and scales 
Concerns about my unique shape 
Man’s definition of normality 
Fizzles in my gratitude 
I too am wonderfully made   

Thank You, LORD, for creating me 
A daughter made through Your design 
Let me travel through this world 
Keep eyes focused on Your sublime 
And rejoice — You’ve made me free

    why is this truth so hard to hold on to?

    why is the negative image so ingrained and the positive truth not precious and close to my heart?
