Becoming Valiant

Peeking out the walled in frame
Fearful took a mighty step
To lean forward just a bit
To look outside

The walls were built there brick by brick
Over time, or hurriedly
Thoughts a fortress tightly made
To keep inside

Years of dwelling in that place
Brought want of fresh air and new view
Purpose filled in solitude
Now to explore

For in a larger Tower strong
Fearful was not all alone
Inviting Wisdom to come in
To teach Truth

New to practice Wisdom’s guides
Fearful found with wavering step
Assurance faithful alongside
To walk with

Step by step they trod the path
Met the fearsome foes to slay
The Tower of Refuge always there
Shelter to afford

For all who take this winding path
Overcoming indeed can be
God’s Wisdom leading hand in hand
Transformation is given

And over time Fearful’s cloak
Changed its mirrored colored hues
From somber shuddered shades of gray
To colors emboldened

A new name earned by journey’s end
Confirmed and claimed by keeping on
No more a fear-filled soul instead
Valiant has become

Revelation 2:17 (NKJV):
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”
