Bird Psalms

Peaceful silence wakens morn
Love’s own Spirit hovers near
Offered coos of mourning doves
Whisper holiness most dear

Softly comes the serenades
Comforting whenever heard
Such exquisite joy expressed
Humble psalms sung by a bird

Then in quiet mountain dark Springs surprise and glad delight
Just outside my window frame
Owls are hooting in the night

On and on the concert rings
Lyric notes in varied keys
Such a blessing are these sounds
Floating smoothly on the breeze

Songs from feathered throats when raised
Warm my heart and fill my cup
Day and night creation sings
Praises uttered, lifted up
