Old Man Winter began to shave
His white beard shorter day by day
Balding head with white tufts plain
Sideburn whiskers yet remain
Ridges, crevices of his nose
All his wrinkles full exposed Now grow tender fuzzy hair
Eager sprouts on mountains fair
While he closes eyes to slumber
Sweating in the noonday sun
Rivulets pour from his crown
River rapids running down
And warming sheets melt ‘neath his chin
As he dreams remembering
Frozen castles, ice igloos
Snow and sleet, storms he blew
All aglow comes tumbling in
Youthful Spring, his time again
Laughing glad with all things new
Bursting at the seams to bloom
Winter sighs slow to leave
Parting snowflake flurries breezed
As crystal memories drip away
Mountain spring time’s here to stay

Thank You, LORD, for the changing seasons, the constancies of nature You’ve set in motion, the vast beauty of Your living art drawing our eyes upwards to see You. Open our hearts to know You and Your eternal purposes, and to walk in awareness of Your presence each day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Genesis 8:22 NKJV
“While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”
Jeremiah 8:7
“Even the stork in the heavens Knows her appointed times; And the turtledove, the swift, and the swallow Observe the time of their coming. But My people do not know the judgment of the Lord.”
